RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Role Objective:

To work with a small team of volunteers to produce relevant articles to build up a portfolio of information on our website.

Tasks and activities to be undertaken:

Writing articles or otherwise producing content (e.g. in video form) to help inform and teach our readers about hedgehog conservation, and conservation in general. We are aiming to have articles for the casual conservation enthusiast as well as a more experienced audience of conservation professionals. For example some articles could be reviews of recetly published research papers, whilst others could be an 'FAQ' article or a 'Helpful things to do in your garden' article. The language used in the article should reflect the article's target market; for example a research paper review should be formal and professional whist an FAQ or Helpful Tips article can be more informal and relaxed.

Targets:

We would like our Research Assistants to produce 1 long article (>2000 words) or 2 shorter articles (500-1500 words) per month. However any contribution made will be appreciated and properly attributed to the author. Please let us know in your application how much time you will be able to commit to this project.

Personal Specification:

Whilst we don't expect our volunteers to all have literary degrees, some level of written communication skill is expected. All articles will be read through and edited if required, this does not reflect on your writing skill and will not affect your author credit.

Other Notes:

Any resources used should be properly referenced (Preferably harvard referencing) whether they be a book, a web page or a scientific article. Feel free to include images into your articles, but please ensure that they are free to use.
